BIOGRAPHY

Scott Cook is a seasoned complex litigation attorney who is admitted in Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada, and New Mexico (inactive).

Recognized for his legal knowledge and advocacy, Scott has earned the AV® Preeminent™ lawyer rating from Martindale-Hubbell for over 20 years; Rocky Mountain Region Super Lawyer; Vegas Inc., Top Lawyer; Desert Companion Top Lawyer (Complex Litigation); America’s Top 100 Civil Defense Litigators (Nevada); Top Attorneys of the Mountain States; and Lifetime Achievement America’s Top 100 Attorneys.

Mr. Cook’s experience has included many years of experience as a handling and managing attorney inside the insurance industry and decades of private practice in complex litigation and law office management. Cook has significant experience in a practice that includes active handling and oversight of litigation teams involved in all aspects of general liability, complex and mass tort litigation, insurance, health care, regulatory law, and business litigation and professional negligence among others.

More specifically in the practice of liability and major litigation, case activity includes a broad variety of general liability claims, catastrophic injury/damage cases, complex/mass litigation in tort and product liability, multi-state litigation, environmental litigation, explosion/fire, health care and professional negligence claims, Indian law, employer/employment matters, and regulatory and insurance law serving as both coordinating counsel and a member of complex litigation teams. Mr. Cook has often been brought into complex cases to handle litigation and to bring parties together for resolution.

Mr. Cook is also involved in the legal and medical communities, serves as an expert witness, holds a certificate in natural gas and propane and is involved in food handling litigation. He has also appeared in Indian Courts or administrative proceedings on various Indian law regulatory matters, appeared before numerous administrative agencies including OSHA, the Nevada Athletic Commission, and multiple state boards and has handled major environmental matters in litigation.

Mr. Cook is a regular instructor of legal and medical education classes including presentations to legal, medical, professional and claims groups. He is also a lecturer, convention panelist and author of numerous articles. Experience further includes management of a seven-state area of litigation for a major insurance carrier, Managing Partner for a national law firm, awards from the Colorado Defense Lawyer’s Association, the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, the Self-Insurance Institute of America, and the American Legal Administrators and has earned the Achieving Legal Excellence Award of Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company.

Scott graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and from the University of Nebraska College of Law. He is the proud father of three grown daughters. In his non-practice time, he enjoys the gym, his bicycle, politics, travel, and the entertainment opportunities of the Las Vegas community. Cook, who was an Athletic Trainer for the Nebraska Athletic Department remains a loyal Husker.
